B.C Wildfires tainted sun and moon

Sun tainted with smokey haze
The air is heavy and thick with smoke in the lower mainland as wild fires continue to rage in B.C. Our hearts and prayers are with the 45,000+ families and individuals displaced by the fires.
Air is precious, as is the water and environment. Who says that global warming is not real or important, when even breathing becomes precious.

Moon on the same smoke filled night. Beautiful but sad to see.

Dark and Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night.

Heavens Gate

When's the last time you slept under a tree and saw creatures in the clouds.

Cross Orbweaver

I was told by a young biologist that this spider is most likely a European garden spider or Cross Orbweaver ( Araneus diadematus). I found it while birding by the Fraser River estuary in Southern British Columbia close to US border in early September 2016. It was an unusual find for me. Like the web, I found the spider's patterns on its back and its legs beautiful. If you look closely you can see the web has been fixed and reinforced in a couple of spots.
