Creek Heron

Heron enjoying the returning salmon at Hoy Creek. Early November, a typical gray overcast Westcoast day. Filtered light through the green, brown and orange fall forest canopy with white water reflections as the silver red salmon make the journey home.

Salmon Home To Spawn

Hard up current struggle to spawn - I followed this one to the spawning grounds.
This time of the year the rivers in the Pacific Northwest are red with salmon making the journey home, to spawn and die. Another cycle begins. The first nations have many stories, legends and art about the gift of the spawning salmon. They attract bears, racoons, wolves, coyotes, eagles, gulls, ravens and other creatures of the forest.

High water due to the rains, opportunist Sea Gull sings with the river

Some salmon don't make the spawing ground
